View from 7th green, looking over Johnstone to Ben Lomond.

Much of the course is situated on a hillside facing north and affords fine views to Ben Lomond and beyond. On a clear day, to the west, the Arran peaks can be seen from the third fairway.

The variation in topography ensures a variety of golfing challenges and the relatively small greens demand accurate approach shots if par is to be achieved. The opening holes are particularly demanding and a good start is necessary otherwise a 'No Return' is a distinct possibility.
